Today’s Gourmet Cup beginnings go back as far as the year 2009, when the acclaimed Slovenian winemaker Danilo Steyer organized the first ski competition at the Mariborsko Pohorje Ski resort for hospitality workers and winemakers. The following year, the competition was organized once again, but it was also the last time that the event took place at this venue and under his wing.
The idea of such an event remained on people’s minds, and thus Tomaž Kavčič, the Chef of Dvorec Zemono, in collaboration with Dean Dubokovič, a photographer and a foodie, and Jezeršek gostinstvo organized the first Gourmet Cup on the ski slopes of Krvavec in 2016.
Gourmet Cup Ljubljana is now an event with the sole vision on becoming the most important event in the region. The organizer of the event is Jezeršek gostinstvo which partnered up with Ljubljana tourism. Hand in hand, they plan and develop the event’s expansion and growth. The aim is to promote culinary tourism of the Ljubljana region and Slovenia as a whole.
